Get an AC power checker to check your homes outlets. And make sure the extension cords are also in good shape checking them as well. A $10 dollar unit is all you need like this one
This is a North American version, you may need a different one.
You may want to hire an electrician to fix your outlets and you may need to replace the grounding connection if is rotted out.

If the speaker wires where shorted out then the Amp logic maybe damaged or just a fuse needs replacing. Best to find someone local who can help you.
