Ideapad does not work on battery only with the power supply connected

My Ideapad does not work on battery only with the power supply connected. And it happened like this: while the laptop was working I smelled a burning element the laptop was connected to the power supply and continued working. I turned it off and it only works with the power supply. I removed the bottom cover and a screw fell out. I think it caused the short circuit. It turned out to be the screw securing the display. Does anyone know where to look for the damaged element and how to remove the motherboard? Thank you

@stefanchmi84845 to work on your ideapad use the hardware maintenance manual. You can find that Lenovo Ideapad 720-15IKB on here under the Document header.

As for determining which part has been damaged, we would at least need to see your motherboard and we would need to know what the exact model number for your motherboard is. It will be printed on the top side of the board. Post some good pictures of your board (both sides) with your Question.

@stefanchmi84845 looks like your board is a Wistron 16877-1M. Remove that plastic that is covering the board especially on the back side (that is actually called the Top side since it faces the keyboard ;-) There should be a couple of MOSFETS and I believe a charging fuse etc, under there. Lets see if those still look ok.

Here is the Lenovo IdeaPad 720 15IKB Wistron Bohol LB720 LB721 16877 1 schematic and it looks like your components are still marked on the motherboard. That will come in handy since a boardview for this board is not available.

Thank you very much for your help. We now have a few days off from work, the so-called "May Day", we are going away for a few days. When I get back I will start peeling off the plastic and we will see what comes of it :-)
