Why is my mouse not working despite running it on update
After installing windows on my system and ran it on update, my mouse isn't working... I've tried all troubleshooting options but still the same issues
Please kindly assist
My pair of Elitebook 640 G9 machines did something similar (It's the same except the ProBook 440 lacks SureRecover; that's the major difference tbh), but this happened after a fresh Windows installation as I bought them used from sellers who decided to bypass the Microsoft account mandate, and did who knows what.
NOW THAT SAID: I reinstalled them both with the Rufus W11 account bypass -- I'd have genuinely preferred the seller ship the laptops blank and leave the buyer to reinstall Windows. It may be related to the Rufus bypass for me. On a previous install, it's generally a bad driver installation.
It's a driver+Win11 issue with the trackpad - run Windows Update with a mouse and it should pick up the driver again. You may need to go into Device Manager to force the matter and then check for updates to load the driver back on, but here's the device you remove:
I don't know if this occurs in Win10 on the G8/G9/G10 machines as I do not do new Win10 installs (and yes, I will remove Win10 when a seller does it this late into the lifecycle of 10), but I'd imagine it probably doesn't and it's a Win11 issue. Linux doesn't struggle with the HP trackpad.

Did you tried updating drivers? I suggest add drivers manually and it will be fixed for sure.
