How can I use the hard drive of my MacBook as external hard drive?

Hi, new around here so this is a general hello to everybody and thank you very much in advanced for your help.

The screen of my MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2017 had an issue, my fault to be honest but it's not working. I went to an Apple Care Service and the hard drive and rest of the Mac is working 100%, it's just the screen.

I tried to connect the MacBook Pro to my TV, by HDMI, using a USB-C to HDMI cable but, I don't know why, it's not working. I've double checked everything twice and it looked right connected but still didn't work.

I need urgently to access to the data on this laptop and I don't have another monitor or TV to test this now, so I am thinking to open the Mac and extract the hard drive and use it as an external hard drive using a case or enclosure.

I did it before with other old Macs and other SSD discs with success but never with a SSD NVMe PCIe like this one. So, my question is, it's there any case or enclosure for this hard drive, the MacBook Pro 13" 2017 hard drive, which is a SSD NVMe PCIe serie J?

As far as I know, there aren't any external enclosures available on the market for these types of SSDs. If you're just trying to access the user data, I'd recommend putting the device in Target Disk Mode and then using a USB-C/Thunderbolt cable to connect the device to another compatible computer. You might also have better luck using an external monitor if you close the lid after it boots up with the external monitor connected. Also, I've had trouble with USB-C to HDMI adaptors working consistently when trying to cast to an external monitor, so the adaptor you're using could influence that—it seems to be more reliable to me when it's a direct Thunderbolt connection. Hi Zach, many thanks for your help. I'll try the Target Disk Mode, I completely forgot about this option. And, as silly as it sounds, I didn't try closing the lid of the laptop when connecting to the TV via HDMI.

@zpl Are Mac ones different? There are external enclosures for standard NVMe M.2 SSD's. ORICO makes one USB 3.1 G2 (10Gbps). I use it all the time for backups, upgrading systems, etc.

Do these models even have an SSD that is removable?

They certainly do not have a hard drive.......

The MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt Ports) and the MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt Ports) models both have removable SSD storage drives, but they are a unique design that only Apple uses in these two devices. OWC makes replacement drives for these models, but there aren't any external enclosures for them on the market that I've been able to find.
