Wii U Gamepad is Not Touch Screening.

I've been trying to find this issue but I keep seeing people almost having the same issue as me, but slightly different. My face buttons are all working fine (knock on wood) the ABXY and D pad all work fine. The issue is that the touch screen is not touch screening. I can't tap anything on it at all. I tried desyncing it from my system to resync it, but even then, I couldn't tap the symbols it showed on the TV because the touch screen was still not touching.

Is it a lost cause and I need to just bring it into a shop to be repaired or somethin'?? I'm worried getting the touch screen fixed will break the face buttons, as I've seen that happen commonly as well apparently.
