My Minus joycon doesn't register as connected to the console.
The console doesn't register the joycon as being connected to the console, and the joycon slides off when pushed. This is only a problem with the minus joycon.

it sounds like either the rail on the actual console is damaged or the lock button on the back of the joycon

If you inspect the small black notch on the back of the joycon does it appear damaged or chipped? That is a common issue that can only be fixed by replaced the locking notch, tedious, but not too difficult.
