Jura brewing weak coffee

Hi,

My Jura Ena Micro 90 has started brewing very weak coffee. Regardless of the set grind and coffee intensity (usually finest grind and maximum strength) my coffee has started getting thinner and thinner. I've played around with settings but nevertheless the brew is turning out watery.

I've noticed that the ground coffee in the waste basked is quite dry, although I get the normal amount of liquid in the cup. Could there be a leak somewhere that prevents the water from properly going through the coffee?

The machine is about 5 years old, I clean it regularly with original cleaning tablets and I use the Claris Blue filters. I've been using the same brand and type of coffee beans since new, but lately have tried other coffee brands (both beans and ground coffee) with same poor results.

Unfortunately the local Jura service has quoted an absurd price for the repair without a guarantee that it would be a permanent fix...

There are two parts you have to look for: (1) the brewing unit, use this guide. After five years the seals are not in good condition, I suppose. (2) The grinder. The coffee ground must be rather fine. If the grindstones are dull, the beans will be bruised and not cut, resulting thin coffee. In this case the grinder must be replaced, for ENA Models the grindstones are not available alone. Not cheap...

I'll rule out the grinder for now. The grind seems consistent with what I've had in the past and putting in ground coffee through the chute also produces wattery coffee. I'll go ahed with purchasing the o-rings and check if that works. Thanks!

Tom - did you have success with your brew unit? I have very weak coffee and am changing out the o-rings now. It’s straight forward but I made the mistake of purchasing from Amazon instead of OEM. Thereby the rings are too large and pistons are caught up in the chamber. Waiting on OEM parts……
