Replaced SD card reader, Switch still doesn’t detect the SD card

I ordered the sd card reader fix it kit in hopes this would solve our issue with my sons Nintendo switch. Followed the instructions meticulously, and yet this thing STILL will not detect that there is an sd card inserted (yes it is compatible with the switch. Yes I tried formatting it on a laptop, AND I even bought a new card in case that one happened to be corrupted. His switch software is updated to the most current one. We restarted it multiple times. I’ve done all the things).

Seriously at a loss. I was so hoping I wouldn’t have to send this into Nintendo and pay the $100 repair fee, but I don’t know what else to do.

Is there ANYTHING else I could try?
