Need to set the time and date every time when turn on Fujifim L55

Hi. My Fujifilm FinePix L55 cannot power on when not being charging. Everytime when i turn on the camera through charging it requires me to reset the time and date.

This is the screen when powered on and on the left side there is a sign (the lower one) that i can't find in the user manual. How can I solve it? Thanks a lot.

@linshuoli this should get fixed by replacing the battery. The date and time function usually has a RTC (Real Time Clock) coin battery on the motherboard. That is the battery that keeps all your settings and date and time in memory. Some of the camera do not have that battery but need a good main battery "to charge" a capacitor which provides the power to that particular memory function.

If you have disassembled your camera already, post some pictures of your boards. If not, be prepared having to do so.

i suddenly got it fixed though don't know why. i changed back to the original battery from FujiFilm and I turned on the camera without charging. though actually days before the original battery did not work, fortunately, it works now. thanks for all your work and comments.

@linshuoli so it most likely has a capacitor that gets charged from the main battery. Great that you got it working again. Consider replacing the main battery eventually

Hi @linshuoli,

I haven't gotten to the part of your question about the time and date yet, but I can answer the second part about the icon you seem to be having trouble identifying, assuming you're talking about the lightning bolt/down arrow in a circle. That indicates that you've turned off the flash so it won't fire under any circumstances even if the light is too low. Here's the page from the Fujifilm FinePix L55 manual that describes it.

I'll let you know if I find anything regarding a backup battery that maintains the date and time.
