The screen got separated and after switching off it isn't turning on.

My phone fell down and it's screen and body got separated, still it was working. Later, when it switched off due to low battery it is not switching on again and it isn't even charging. What should I do?

Hi Rutika,

There are quite a few possibilities for things that may have gotten damaged when the phone fell. It sounds like something to do with the charging system got messed up; that would explain why it worked fine up until the battery died. If it was mine, I'd probably start with checking the connectors to the battery and the charging port.

Sorry to say that iFixit doesn't have any guides for you to go by, but there's a Spanish site called Nadie Me Llama Gallina that has a whole set. I'd start with the guide for replacing the battery; you don't need to actually remove the battery but you will want to unplug it and check the connector.

Manuales / Motorola One / Drums

Make sure there aren't any bent or broken pins either on the cable or the motherboard. If it all looks okay, clean both connectors with 90% or higher concentration isopropyl alcohol then plug it back in making sure it's fully connected and check to see if anything is different.

If that hasn't helped, then go ahead and unplug the battery again for safety sake and follow the instructions for replacing the charging port board up to the point where you unplug the flex cable connector on the board; that would be Step 5.

Manuales / Motorola One / Auxiliary plate

Again, same drill; unplug the connector, check the pins, clean it and make sure it's plugged in securely. You'll probably want to check the other end of that flex cable as well; it's shown in one of the photos on the battery guide. Here's a picture where I've marked it.

I'd suggest checking all these things first. If it's still not working, I'd probably try replacing that charging port as the first step. You can find it on several sites like Amazon, eBay and AliExpress; here's an example of what you need, although I'm sure you can probably find a listing where you don't need to buy 10 of them at a time.

10pcs For Motorola For Moto One P30 Play Usb Charging Port Board Dock Connector Charging Flex Cable Replacement Part - Mobile Phone Flex Cables - AliExpress

Following that, I'd look at possibly replacing that flex cable that runs between the charging board and the motherboard, and finally as the last step the battery would be the only other thing left to try. If you've gone through all that and it still won't take a charge, then that just leaves logic board problems that are generally beyond the scope of a DIY repair.

Good luck; try these things out and let us know what you find.
