Black screen while pc is still running, now can’t get signal

I recently built a pc and it was working great for two days. I was playing call of duty when the screens went black with no audio and my pic wouldn’t turn off with the power button on the tower so I hit the psu switch. Now I can’t even get a signal on my monitor and the pc starts and all lights/fans work. There is no error light on my motherboard. I have reseated everything, tried a different stick of ram, tested my gpu in another pc (it works), cleared cmos, different monitors/ cables. The only thing I haven’t touched is the cpu. None of the usbs work either. My guess is the motherboard? But does anyone else have any other ideas?

Specs:

Asus b550 plus board

Ryzen5 5600 cpu

Rx 6800 gpu

UPDATE

Figured I’d update for anyone else running into this problem. I replaced the mb and is working now. Looking back now, the front IO not working was a giveaway that the mb was dead.

Hi @tyabbott,

When you say that there's no error light on the motherboard, do the motherboard's Q-LEDs all turn on and then turn off during the booting process i.e. POST and boot?

I don't know the board but looking at the user manual it says:

"The Q-LEDs check key components (CPU, DRAM, VGA, and booting devices) during the motherboard booting process. If an error is found, the critical component’s LED stays lit up until the problem is solved".

The "stays lit up" part had me wondering if they turn on when there's a problem or turn off if there's none.

Have you checked the PSU?

Just because the fans and lights all work doesn't mean that the PSU is OK.

Maybe try the paperclip test on the PSU to check if all the voltage supplies are OK.

If the PSU is OK and if the Q LEDs do turn on then off I'd say that the CPU is also OK so then it's looking like the motherboard

Hi thanks for the reply! The Q-LEDS do not flash or light up at all but the LEDs on the left side of board work fine. I also swapped PSUs from a different PC and still no luck. That’s why I’m guessing it’s the motherboard as there is no Q-LED indicator or usbs. The power button on the tower works to turn on the pc but not to turn off which I think is odd?

I’m going to try reseating the cpu this evening and if that doesn’t work. I would think it’s safe to assume that it’s the board?
