I can't play my ds game on my 3ds xl

Hi I want to play my game for the ds/dsi on my 3dsxl but when I run it it gives a white screen flash for 1 second and says this software is closed does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi, does this card work ok in a normal DS? If not, you might want to try cleaning the contacts on the cartridge with some isopropyl alcohol
