Greetings, recently my ps4 stopped working, at first when I tried to turn it off, it stayed on white light blinking for a few minutes, but then it did not shut off so I unplugged it.

Recently this Ps4 had issues with turning on, it had to be left for a while connected before it would turn on again, so I opened it up and cleaned it. Decided to open up the power supply and found ants in it, to the Ants out & cleaned the areas with IPA.

Now it won't turn on, but the disc drive makes a beeping noise, leads me to believe it is the power supply not sending the correct voltage. I took this Ps4 from a friend who was no longer going to use it, fully knowing it had issues, but because I want to learn how to repair I decided to take it.

Before I start buying parts I would like to know possible problems and hopefully narrow it down to a specific area.

Observed behaviours:

Ps4 disc drive receives power, but won't show go into blue light.

Ps4 the day before turned off after posting into bluelight.

Ps4 after turning it off, went into white light, but would not shut down, so it was manually unplugged.

Ps4 previously had ants in the power supply.

I had this problem too but it's just the opposite I have power but my disk drive don't work I just Recently put in a new one any ideas

Lots to unpack here. I assume the title is describing a scenario where when you press eject, it beeps 3 times and when you press power, it does nothing. Despite having been able to turn on before. First thing to do is to try sticking a disc in. If it powers on fine, then you know the problem is in the button. It's not uncommon for the fats' capacitive passthrough to get stuck under the light pipe, unable to make contact with the motherboard to turn it on.

If a disc doesn't work, then you have a scenario where you get 5v just fine, but cannot get 12v. Since this followed a teardown, the next step would be to check your work. Also, since you mentioned bugs, check that work again. I once had one that didn't seem to have bugs at all. Somehow, after brushing out the power supply, I managed to knock a bug leg into forming a bridge and I killed that PSU.

NOT following a teardown, 5v with no 12v can sometimes be solved with swapping the PSU. But it's usually an issue on the board (needle in a haystack).

Getting stuck on the white light on shutdown is not normal operation, but isn't uncommon either. Next time this happens, try holding power for a long time (about 30 seconds). You might have to unplug it like you did, but know that this carries considerable risk of damaging the hard drive.
