battery is blinking orange only when the charger is connected

my battery is blinking orange only when the charger is connected, battery is empty and is not charging. (Lenevo ideapad 330)

if the charging micro detects a bad battery it will not try to charge it. My Asus laptop has been blinking for years, but it is always connected to power so I have not replaced the battery.
