Kenmore HE5t dryer
unit powers on, all functions respond correctly, but it has a humming/buzzing sound and wont engage

@boom5914 your model number 110.XXXXXXXX identifies it as build by Whirlpool :-) Kenmore doesn't make any of their products.

Can't find the tech sheet for the dryer to verify but it sounds like a problem with the motor faulty start winding perhaps.
See if you can manually rotate the drum just enough to get it going and check if it then continues by itself.
If so it is the motor as it can't overcome the inertia if a winding is faulty but will run if it is helped initially.
Be careful if you try this.

it does turn (but its not a simple turn) its hard to turn, it does turn though...do you mean take the door off and try to turn the drum? while its humming? thx mark
