Internal Keyboard & Trackpad not working after repair

Hello everyone.

It‘s my first time posting here.

I currently have problems with my MacBook Pro (15" Mid-2015).

So basically I replaced the battery on my MBP.

It took quite some time to get the glue out of the old battery, but other than that, it was quite easy.

Once I finished I booted the MB up and noticed both the Trackpad and Keyboard won‘t work anymore.

I used a external KB & M to log-in and see what the problem is.

I also noticed that the backlight of the keyboard still light up and that I can‘t click on the trackpad.

As you can see in the photo of about this Mac, the driver (or whatever it is) shows up for the KB/M.

Power button is the only key which works.

The flex cable is inserted properly, I‘ve checked it multiple times already.

If I disconnect the flex cable, the driver won‘t show up anymore in about my Mac and the backlight won‘t light up. Does that mean my flex cable is OK? Or should I replace it?

Tried SMC/PRAM reset, no luck (don‘t even know if it worked successfully, can‘t check, attempted it with both internal & external KB).

I read on forums that on this specific model the trackpad is also connected to the KB and that‘s why both of them don‘t work, is that true and could my trackpad be dead?

I have the feeling that the fans also go to 100% now.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this issue?

Should I buy a replacement trackpad or flex cable?

If so, how can I get the new glued battery out without damaging it as it‘s over the trackpad? :/

Thanks to everyone ! :^)

Update (01/13/2023)

Update: 14.01.22

The solution to my problem was the trackpad, I had to replace it, I think some liquid got in there while cleaning the adhesive of the battery on the bottom and that‘s why it got defective. Using a credit card I was able to get the new battery out easily, and I even reused the adhesive of it.

I bought a genuine trackpad and it instantly worked, fans aren‘t on 100% now either. The old flex cable still works.

I think it‘s still possible to fix the old trackpad though but I didn‘t wanna go too far with this repair.

I've had similar issues. Stupidly enough, I had forgotten to close the latch for the cable near the case. Did you double-check that already?

I would start with the cable. It is not unusual to see those go bad on this model (the 13" 2015 is notorious for faulty trackpad cables actually).

As you mentioned, they are interconnected, and even though the keyboard has its own cable, most Macs ultimately route all the keyboard signals through the trackpad.

It certainly could be the trackpad itself. But it's hard to know that until you try a new cable.

Thanks for your answer! Do you think this trackpad & cable is reliable? https://amzn.eu/d/2EHdyFZ

Any features that won’t work on this 3rd party part? I’d like to buy it from iFixit but unfortunately they don’t ship it to Germany. Also do you have any idea on how to get the new battery out without damaging it?

@sxmed Not sure, I've not heard of the specific company before. But I am not familiar with reliable vendors to use for Europe either.

As for getting the battery out without damage, that's a bit of a challenge. I'll hope you don't have to to be honest. With all the adhesive, It will be tricky. It's not really intended to be an uninstall and then reinstall sort of part. Mostly just go slowly.
