BEKO DTGC7000W drum turning but no heat

I have experienced the same problem on two of these tumble dryers, one was my mother-in-law's and the other my own (both the same model DTGC7000W). Both had the same fault and I am sharing it here so others know what to look for.

In both instances the issue was with the heating element.

On both occasions the black cable that attaches to the heating element had corroded and essentially failed/disconnected so no electricity was flowing through the element. Unfortunately, I am not skilled enough to repair the problem, mainly because the connector is small and requires uncrimping and recrimping. It is a fix that would cost pennies but I chose to replace the whole unit on both occasions, costing approx £48 from a local parts supplier.

Changing the element unit is pretty easy - disconnect mains power, then remove top cover of dryer (remove 2 screws at back then slide panel back) and at the rear, remove the large metal cover in the centre, both unscrew with a cross-headed screwdriver. The heating unit is attached with 2 more screws and you will see the cable(s) from it going into the machine. You can unclip the cable guard easily and then unclip the cable connectors. Feed the cables through the hole (this is the trickiest bit) removing the grommet at the same time. Once removed you can look in the element unit to check if the fault I describe above is same for your unit.

To fit the new unit simply reverse the removal procedure to install the new unit. Then refit the back panel and top panel of dryer.

Hope this helps.
