My ram is not booting

I just bought a mid 2009 MacBook Pro with the 2.26 ghz core 2 duo and originally 2gb ram. I just bought 8gb of ram from i fix it and it will not boot it just beeps at me if I have just the 2 4gb sticks but if I swap it runs just fine with 5. Is this a problem with the ram or the computer?

Brett Payne, Are you sure that the RAM you purchased is compatible with your device?

The device is capable of supporting up to 8GB (2x4GB 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM). Do you have a link to the product page?

Note! The first test to run, to test the modules, is to run them one by one. Remove both modules, then insert one of them into the first RAM slot. Try booting the computer and see if it works. If everything checks out, then turn your device off and take out that module and replace it with the second one, to perform the same test.

If both modules works as singles, sounds a little unlikely due to symptoms, you could try running the onboard diagnostics. Start the device holding down Option and D to enter diagnostics.
