Apple curse? Can’t keep Apple Eco system stable

Okay,

So I’ve been battling trying to keep my apple eco system stable. By that I mean I have 2 MacBook Pro’s, 2015 and 2018. Had an iPad Air, now I have an iPad Air 5. Many more old phones but they aren’t relevant. iPhone X maybe.

Approximately October I had to send my 2018 in because the keyboard needed to be replaced. This was under a repair program for known issues with this particular model.

So I sent it to apple and the next weekend it was on its way back. Unfortunately FedEx and all their glory lost my package. This is a nightmare I will spare most the details. They ended up knocking on my door almost two weeks later saying that a woman flagged her down ( the driver) and said she had found my box in the middle of the road. No label or anything so the driver opened it to see what was inside and returned it to the address. Okay cool seemed okay whatever.

So I got it back with new keyboard, new touch bar, and freshly installed OS.

It sat around a few weeks until I had time to set it back up. While doing so it was misbehaving. Beach balling, Crashing, freezing up, settings would reset upon logging in things like this. So I did all the quick fixes I could think of, reset NVRAM, PRAM, disk repair, so on. No luck, then I went to reset NVRAM and PRAM one last try before fresh OS install. It got stuck in a boot loop. Nothing Apple phone support or myself could do to fix it.

So once again I had to go to apple. Took it to Apple Store at a local mall in Dallas where they looked at it ad said it needed to keep it over night because they were having a hard time diagnosing the issue. They couldn’t connect. I left it and later that same night they called said it needed repairs and because the glass bezel at the bottom of the screen was cracked and there was a spot on the screen that was purple it was most likely the cause. I immediately explained the removable decorative glass bezel at the bottom could in no way affect the performance as it was cosmetic ( their top tech guy disagreed and said the glass bezel was not in fact not removable. Wrong!) And the purple blemish has been there for almost 3 years. How could that be it? No real response was given. They said it should be covered under the same repair as keyboard because that’s when the issue began.

Then they called back and said it would t be covered it would be $600 to fix. I asked what was wrong and they said they couldn’t tell me. I was upset and couldn’t afford it. I called Apple-support later that night and explained the same details explained here. The support said the ticket noted water damage, and physical damage to outer shell. I’m sorry what? This was wrong. The next day it had been escalated and I ended up on 3 way call with support and store.

Another long story short they once again agreed to repair under the same keyboard issue. They ended up replacing the logic board. Okay cool, this should fix it right? No…

Now the same issues are worse, I have recorded footage of log screen where keyboard and track pad are not working, as well as tough bar being active which I feel is not normal, setting will no stay, iCloud won’t update, I have two Mac side by side and they are completely different. Both same account. One moment I’m reading Emails, the next minute My box is empty and tells me I have hundreds unread, weird image glitches keep happening and the beach balling and freezing have gotten to where I can’t even use it. Screen would go black, ohh and the new keyboard they installed….. the left arrow key is stuck and hardly works. Several times multiplayer keys would stop working until reboot. I only have like 5 apps installed. Password manager, authentication, screen recorder ( So I could capture the weird stuff). The drive had plenty of space.

Now it goes back tomorrow for them to investigate, I have no idea what it could be at this point, or what else could be replaced. To top it off seems since they replaced my logic board my phone support option has been limited on my account and marked as not available.

What do I do? What could be wrong with Mac?

Apple gave up, sent me a brand new MacBook Pro Max.

Problem solved. Still have Ghosts in the machine.

While the chin plate under the display could be thought as being decorative it also protects the cables which pass between the logic board and display.

This design is a bit flawed! As it’s glass! So when it is cracked small shards can break off cutting the cables so unless that was only replaced and not the full display assembly that can explain odd display issues.

I would ask for a full printout of the repair history as something has been passed over. And as FedEx failed to deliver the package (get the tracking number, to see what happened) you may have an out!

So what is happening here? Apple limits its testing these days so less inter-operation between releases are done! So version creep issues can show up. Here you had a stable system and they upgraded it to a newer macOS release.

I would restore the older OS onto the system you had as that worked. Apple uses a few different means to prod you forward!

Think it this way… Your kid doesn’t want to do something you want them to do what do you do? I’ll give you a treat! So they do the chore! Apple is just following this basic approach. Sadly also taking things away or just not testing!
