Converting your device from a black iPhone 4 to a white iPhone 4 requires two, rather straightforward, installations: The Display Assembly and The Rear Panel. Installing a new rear panel is super easy and requires the removal of a mere two screw. Installing a new Display Assembly, however, is a tad more in-depth. Since the iPhone 4 was built from the front to the back, the display assembly was the first part put in, and is the last part to come out. It will require pulling out most of the internal components.

That being said, the guides linked to above do a great job detailing the exact process needed to install both parts, and we have had many users perform such installations. The risks of doing them are things such as not reconnecting everything perfectly, losing screws, getting dust inside the phone, ripping connectors, and other such problems. However, if you take your time, work carefully, and keep track of your screws and parts, it is completely doable.

All in all, if you are worried about installing the new parts, I'd recommend keeping the phone black; but if you are willing to take a little risk for the sake of DIY exploration, go for it!

Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes! Good Luck!

I have one more question, is electrostatic shock an issue to the components of my iPhone and if so how would i go about testing were to work at so this problem don't happen, also is there anything else that could hurt it and make it not power back on?

ESD (electrostatic discharge) can potentially damage your phone's internals. We have an article about it here if you want to learn more about it. However, if you make sure to work on a clean surface, and touch your tools to something metal to ground them before you work, you should be completely fine. Other things that can hurt it (other than not reconnecting everything properly) are dust, dirt, and most importantly liquid. Be sure to work on a big, clean surface to prevent anything unwanted getting inside there. That, and make sure there's no liquid around. Water damage is a pain to fix.

Also, as i stressed before, be very careful when attaching/detaching ribbon cables as they can rip if you rush.

could i maybe even get pressurized air like they sell and blow out the ribbon cable connectors?
