How do I replace my 4K panel with a 1080p panel?

Hi! My MSI GS73VR has a 4K panel in it that I removed. The part number on the panel is "B173ZAN01.0". I was thinking of replacing it with a 1080p panel with the part number "B173HAN03.0". Will there be problems with this? Thank you!

Hi

Just from what I know about displays in general the manufacturer will need to make a panel with the same connector type between the two displays to make them interchangeable which is quite uncommon as 4K panels need more power and if you were to put the incorrect power into a display it could cause some serious damage ,however maybe if you ask the manufacturer of the display if they are interchangeable you might get a different answer

I recommend putting your 4K display back together (unless there’s a issue that wasn’t mentioned) and enjoying the quality of it as if you are going down to 1080p most of the time that’s a downgrade unless you are wanting better performance in games

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)

Of course, if performance is an issue at 4K, then you can almost certainly drop the display resolution down to 1080 in the display adapter. I personally can't think of any advantages to dropping from 4k to 1080 outside of cost.

I guess it depends on why @mr_y removed it in the first place; if it's because it doesn't work, then saving money on a 1080 screen might make sense.

But I agree with you 100%, @hellomacos, that electrical compatibility is the main concern here. If it is, the display adapter can almost certainly handle the lower resolution, I'm thinking.
