Hi @peggybyrd

What is the model number of the refrigerator?

Water in the pan is normal but it should never get to the point of overflowing as the water should evaporate before this happens.

If there is a lot of water it means that there is a lot of ice being melted every time the auto defrost function kicks in once every 8-10 hours.

Check that the door seals are OK and providing a good seal preventing warmer moist air from entering the refrigerator creating more ice on the evaporator unit than what usually occurs due to normal usage i.e. doors being opened etc.

To check the seals place a piece of paper between the door and the door jamb and with the door closed, try to pull it out. It will come out with a bit of effort but it should definitely not fall out by itself. Do this at various places around the doors, top, bottom and both sides.

Also look at any penetrations, where the line set enters the box or where wiring enters. Any air gap there will lead to moisture infiltration. Otherwise check the seals as jayeff mentioned, and take note of door management. Might be leaving door open, or something like that... does the pan have a heating element in it? Some do some don't. If it does check if the float switch is working and the element is functional.

Hi @peggybyrd

Did you check the door seals and for any air gaps as suggested in the answer and comment above, you never said?

Is the condenser fan near the compressor motor (and also the drip pan) running at all?

The water in the evaporator pan should evaporate between defrosts as usually there isn't that much every time. The fan cooling the condenser should help with this as it is blowing the heat off the condenser coils so it should be a bit warm there as well as the heat from the compressor i.e. natural evaporation.

Hi @peggybyrd

If one of the door seals is faulty and needs to be replaced here's a link to the parts for the refrigerator.

Type "gasket" (without inverted commas) in the parts search box below the parts diagrams, to find the part number for the one applicable to your model i.e. white, black, freezer door etc, and then search online using the manufacturer's part number (the one in orange)to find suppliers that suit you best.

Also check the door alignment to make sure that it is not a hinge problem and that the door closes parallel to the door jamb, top and bottom and not at an angle leaving a slight gap.
