Joy con is not recognized when attached to console, but works detached

Definitely sounds like a problem with the joy con connector on the Switch itself. On the original Switch, that connector isn't too difficult to change out and parts are easily obtainable; I know, I've done that replacement myself.

Unfortunately, there aren't any repair guides out for the OLED Switch yet. From watching the OLED teardown, I believe a combination of using the original Nintendo Switch Right Joy Con Sensor Rail Replacement guide, the Nintendo Switch OLED Model Teardown, plus a healthy dose of common sense, you should be able to accomplish that repair.

However, the big problem appears to be availability of parts. I've poked around at my usual sources for parts, and none of them have much of anything in the way of OLED Switch parts, and definitely no joy con rails. iFixit has the part listed, Nintendo Switch OLED Right Joy-Con Sensor Rail, but show them as out of stock; i.e., they don't have any.
