I have in plugged it for 10 minutes and re plugged it . Still u can hear the compressor kick on for a few seconds then kick off. Not sure what It is any help would help. I do hear a clicking noise when the compressor clicks on and when the compressor kicks off..

I also changed the relay overload start capacitor for a 3-1 universal. Checked for cont the compressor peeps. I start it up u can hear the compressor loudly when it starts up but after 2 seconds gets quieter and the compressor is hot ..

Hi Candicorp,

If you have the model Jayeff mentioned (thanks Jayeff for the diagram), the run capacitor may have gone bad, which fits with the clicking. Have you tried replacing just the run capacitor? Per the diagram (if that matches your model) it should be a 12 microfarad, 180 volt AC capacitor (A higher voltage rating on the capacitor will be fine too). Adding a hard start kit (the 3 in 1) may allow the compressor to start, but it will likely overheat and shut off after a little while if the run capacitor is bad (or has been removed when the 3 in 1 was installed). It wont be able to keep running without overheating. Your 3 in 1 may only have a start capacitor. If the run capacitor is the problem the 3 in 1 won't truly fix things. There are 4 in 1 sets that include a run capacitor with a value close to 12 microfarads, for example the Supco URCO 810RC.

Yeah I ordered the running capacitor it seems to be getting cold it's freezing ice trays ice. But I thought the same thing rather just replace both and be done with it... 4-1 would have been a better option needed the fridge quickly

Hi,

It sounds like the compressor is either not starting or is not staying on for long enough to cool things down.

Did you mean model # WRF535SMBM00?

If so, here's the tech sheet for the refrigerator.

Get into the Service test mode as described by the guide and perform Service test #2 and check that the compressor and condenser fan are both working properly.

If they do, then run all the other service tests and check that they pass as well.

Hopefully the electronic control board was not damaged by the power outage.

I hear the compressor turn on when I plug it in and the line gets cold is it suppose to stay cold then it gets hot again. And the compressor isn't as loud. I replaced the relay overload start capacitor with a 3 in 1 universal.

@Candicorp

Did you try running the service test diagnostics as described above?

If so did the compressor stay running?

Hi Candicorp,

Any way you can measure the voltage in the outlet where the fridge / freezer is plugged in?
Unfortunately, sudden brown outs can cause these types of appliances to fail, but not nearly as frequent as thunder storms.

If you're supposed to have 110V but only get ~80-ish, that's a problem.
Same if you measure 140-160V and it's supposed to be 240V.

A few years back, in the midst of winter here in Norway (on a Sunday as well), I experienced a sudden brown out just after hearing a pretty loud "crash". I inspected my nearby area, but saw nothing. When I got back in, I had partial power. Some lights would turn on, but others would not. My computer was running fine.

Electrical company (24/7 support) remotely diagnosed it as a glow power (I don't know how to properly translate it).
It meant that I had only very limited power available.

My fridge was doing the exact same thing; Compressor tried to kick in and it would be clicking and buzzing for a second or two, then give up. That repeated 2-3 times, before I unplugged it completely.

Once they got crew out, they found that a tree had fallen over the power line a couple hundred yards from my house and had blown a few breakers in the power station.

There's a few things it could be. Could be run cap, start cap, start relay, or like others mentioned you may not be getting enough voltage. Have you checked if the condenser fan motor is running, as well? If it isn't this will let it run for a few seconds before pressures climb too high and a high pressure cutout kills power to the compressor to attempt to save the unit. The condenser fan motor not running will also keep it from cooling properly
