No Picture on my Panasonic TX32-LZD81 Viera 32" LCD TV

I was watching TV the other night and I had just turned it on. I had to get something from the other room. When I came back the picture had gone on the TV but I still have the sound. The screen looks black like it is switched off.

Hi,

With the TV on and audio heard, try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen and check for any images on the screen.

They will be very faint if they are there so trying in a darkened room may help to see them.

If there are images than there is a screen backlight problem with the TV.

If there are no images, disconnect the power to the TV and use an Ohmmeter to check if the fuse on the tcon board is OK.

The tcon board is the board that connects the mainboard to the screen. There is one cable that connects it to the mainboard and two cables that connect the board to the screen. This board is used for the video connection between the mainboard and the screen.

Here's an image to show where the fuse (and its rating) it is located on the tcon board.

Hi @ Anthony

Do you own a DMM (digital multimeter) or know how to use one?

If no and not you need to get one and learn how to use it first so that you can use it to test if the fuse is electrically OK or not.

Without understanding the fundamentals having a guide doesn't really help.

For example if the fuse is OK then you would have to move onto "live" testing of the TV with the DMM and this is extremely dangerous if you don't know your way around devices operating where there is exposed 240V AC.
