Fan goes max when you start computer and Wifi hardware not found

I've changed the harddrive and removed the cd rom. When I noticed that the new harddrive didnt work I put the old hdd back. After that change the fan goes max when I start the computer and after 5-8 min the computer shuts itself down. To add to this problem when I changed back to the old hdd the wifi doens work I get the message "hardware not installed" on the Icon message.

I could connect the cable, didnt se any damage on in. I did not put in any new HDD just removed it.

The new HDD was a Hitachi 320 GB SATA standard 2.5" 9,5mm 5400RPM.

When I disconnect the camera data cable the fan goes normal.

@rubl - Then you have a short in the cable or the connector is damaged.

As far Hitachi drive what is the exact model as some of these drives won't work in your system correctly.

Why did you take the optical drive out? I would put it back in. Leaving it out alters the systems structure and offers an unprotected entry for material to enter.

The hitachi drive model is 5k500 b-320 , type TS5SAA320.

@rubl - The good news is this is a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) drive so its a perfect drive for your system. But its an older drive ;-{

It maybe on its last legs if its' been in use all of this time. Do you have an external FireWire case to install the drive? See if that works. Today we need to be careful as many of the newer drives are just too fast for this system.
