White Screen, both horizontal and vertical lines, cuts out after 3-5s

I’ve had a customer bring in a MacBook Air 13” (early 17) which is not booting.

When turned on it shows a white screen with both horizontal and vertical lines on the screen, and then it turns off after 3-5 seconds.

I’ve connected and external display and got nothing.

I’ve done all the resets, disconnected the battery and magsafe and held power for 10 seconds before reconnection, I’ve tried to boot without SSD blade, and nothing has changed.

I’ve also disconnected the display cable and turned on to see if it still cut out (based on fan spinning) and it did.

Does anybody have any idea what might be causing the issue and how to resolve?

I’ve attached a picture of the display.

@danj thanks for the suggestion.

Chip looks fine here. I cleaned off the paste to check the larger one too but both seem in tact.

@oscart - Sorry, it still doesn't change things as the logic board still has an issue. it will need deeper skills to locate the defect and it might not be repairable.

If an external display is not showing any image then you have a bad logic board. Carefully lift off the heat sink to inspect the chips I’m suspecting the smaller I/O chip has cracked like this Mac Mini’s
