Is it still supported tooday?

I have an early 2008 imac EMC 2210 and it needs a new hard drive. Is it worth it to get a new hard drive and will the computer still be supported today?

HiYa,

Hard drives are cheap and as long as it just the hard drive and a bit of effort you can get these back up and running quite happily.

These do suffer from a common issue with their GPUs which is worth knowing about (google).

Re-installing the OS can be a pain - they don’t have internet recovery so you have to build an installer or install the OS on another Mac.

These support up to 10.11.6 (El Cap) which is not a great OS to use on the internet these days (a lot of sites use TLS 1.2 which El Cap never understood) - you may be able to play with the software to get 10.13 running on it but the performance is usually not worth the effort. If you want a Mac to browse the web / Netflix / prime etc.. this may not be the best.

That said if you are using it for something like iTunes Player or for writing letters (something like neo office or similar) it will be a happy machine. Depends on your needs.
