Short on LogicBoard - Please help identify the circuit

I got this iPhone SE 2020 from a friend of mine for Data-Recovery after a liquid damage. First I got a short in the Power IC Chip at the center of the picture (APL1092). After changing this one, there seems to be another short on the board. This time I don’t know where to inject voltage, can someone help me with this line? (I marked the Diode-Mode-Shorting out Caps in the picture.)

@tech_ni Unfortunately there is nothing going into the board from battery oder the lightning connector.

i have wxj software but unfortunately it doesnt show line names for the se2. it could be low resistance lines that seem short but actually are fine. have you any photos of the actual board you could post.

Here is a picture from the actual board. I‘ve tried to input voltage but its getting right to ground. Nothing on the board seems to get hot. It drops from 1V to 0,8V with 2Amps, should I give it more? I think it might be a layer-short or sonething like that … [image|2503942]

I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but these lines are the PP1V8_IO, PP_CPU_PCORE and PP_DCS_S1  circuits. I am not sure about the last two diode readings but the PP1V8_IQ should be around 0.24. I think you will find the short is under the CPU. This is common if too much heat is applied to the PMIC.

Oh crap, so it was me that forced this to happen by getting out the chip on the other side of the CPU? Is there anything I can do now besides from reballing the CPU? (Which I don‘t consider?)

@papaulm The only thing you could do is remove all the components on the 1V8 IQ line. The other two circuits I am not sure of their resistance but I would think they would be extremely low so you would need to compare in OHM, s mode against a known good board.

The ZXW software shows all the components and circuits just not the diode values. I think everyone is looking in the wrong place lol. I have put a pic above.

@imicrosoldering You are very helpful, this is only extended hobby for me, not for living ;-) So I didn‘t get myself the ZXW Software due to financial reasons. Therefor I really appreciate your help!

All lines are at 0,2Ohms which tells me that you were right from the beginning with your suggestion about the shorted CPU.

Do you eventually know which chips I have to transfer to get the data out? Is there some binding in the CPU itself?

@papaulm You will need to transfer the NAND, CPU and the logic EEPROM (U1401). You might have to do an update which should pass without transferring the baseband CPU and its EEPROM otherwise you will need to transfer those as well.

Its ok for my friend that I „practice“ on his board to see if I can eventually recover the data. Thank you so much Chris for reaching out to me and answering all my questions!
