Mic is very very soft after replacement of the flex

hello I bought a full dock replacement for the iphone 1st generation. The home button and dock connector are both working very well but the mic is very very very soft. When i whistle at full power straight into the mic and play it back at full power I can only hear a slight amount of sound when i place my ear against the speaker!

Is this a broken microphone that I got?

btw I bought the full replacement of ebay no soldering was required.
