Transfer Apple LED Display (1316) into iMac (A1312) Housing?

I have an Apple Cinema Display (A1316) that’s in pretty bad shape (smashed glass / dented housing) but still functions as a monitor, and an iMac 27 2010 (A1312) with a dead logic board. I was wondering how feasible it would be to transfer the components of the cinema display into the iMac housing with relatively few modifications? My only concern is whether the grounding cables for the A1316 PSU would be compatible with the A1312 grounding points in the iMac housing. Looking at the internals of each device, it looks to be possible. Just wondering if anyone has attempted this kind of task before and had any experience or advice.

Thanks,

Ben.

The raw panel can be removed from the mounting frame so I’m not worried about that. The panel is the same but the T-CON board maybe different which gets into the connection to your system as the signals lines may not be the same. I’ve never tried what you are doing so I’m not sure if the connection is compatible. I was only able to find the iMac display spec sheet LM270WQ1-SDC2

For reference here’s the part info for both just in case:

The last suffix note is the concern C1/2 vs B1

I think its worth the risk as I can’t see Apple ordering something that’s not compatible (at this time point in history)

Thanks for the response. I have both displays so either could be used - my main concern was mounting points for the A1316 PSU and driver board due to variations in size between the respective components of each unit. I can't see it being a major issue however, due to the large space inside the iMac enclosure, giving me ample headroom for manoeuvre. I also wonder how hard it would be to route some of the existing cables out the back. I'll let you know how I get on if I choose to proceed.

@Ben Stanway - Just move the iMac panel over. Don't make this harder than it is. Did it work at that point? If it does then look at how to get things switched over.
