Don’t know how long phone was in the washer for, can it be fixed?
I have a new phone that I use the majority of the time instead of the one with all my old pictures and notes on it, so I didn’t notice right away when my roommate put the old phone in the washing machine on accident. It was in there for at least an hour, I think, but I don’t know how long it was in there for exactly. When we discovered it, I panicked and immediately tried to charge it and see if it would turn on (I now know that this was not good to do at all) but put both it and the SIM card in rice swiftly afterwards whenever that didn’t work. Please tell me it that it is not completely ruined as that would utterly devastate me. iCloud has never worked for my family (complicated internet situation) and that phone literally has 6+ years worth of pictures and info on it that I was never able to fully backup to another device. I want to take it to an official repair place as well but the nearest one is over an hour drive away and I don’t know how soon I can rush it there. Is it broken forever?? (I am not tech savvy at all and my family went years without internet or computer access so I apologize if I’m just stupid.)

At the very least, a component-level repair person will be able to transfer the chip from your phone to a working logic board. What happens when you plug in the device? Have you tried changing the battery? Do you have another screen?

Whenever I tried turning it on + plugging it in to charge, nothing happened (the screen remained black and there were no signs of it charging) so I just googled what to do beyond putting it in rice on another device and that’s when I learned that trying to turn it on could damage it even further and that putting it in rice may not save it. I’m mainly concerned about whether it will become unfixable forever if I cannot repair it at home or get it to a repair person in the next few days. I don’t know how to take out the battery and was told by someone slightly more tech savvy that I couldn’t even do so because it’s an iPhone. I don’t know what you mean by having another screen. There’s only one on the phone currently and I don’t have another to replace it with to my knowledge. @andrewsawesome
