Endurance info for the 1TB SSD option for the iMP?
Hi folks,
Is there a way to determine the model, type and manufacturer of the 1TB ssd option found on the iMP ? I'm after this info to try to find out the TBW liftetime of the drive.
You’ll need to ask Apple directly for that. The iMac Pro is an odd duck! It doesn’t use a standard SSD, Nope!
The drive elements are raw flash chips! The controller logic is held within the main logic board (T2 chip).
So your options in replacing them is very limited!

I understand that the controller is handled by the T2 but the flash should point out roughly on it's endurance right? From what I can distinguish it's 2 x 512 GB SanDisk drives that may find themselves also in some traditional nvme drives
@unnamel3ss - SanDisk is the supplier of the flash chips nothing more!
The way they are written to is quite different than a typical SSD. Think how a RAID 0 drive setup works and now apply that here at the silicon level.
Remember! These are Raw Flash elements not a full SSD drive. A full HDD or SSD has two elements the controller and the storage media. You can't equate the media on its own. As how its used could be very different!
As an example Seagate offers a multi-actuator HDD drive so what is it? It's more like a conjoined twin! One body and two heads! One can be doing a math problem the other writing prose! Each independent of the other, yet, they could sing a song in harmony! So are they one or two?
