I hope someone can find a solution for my problem…

I have an ASUS ROG GL502VM. It has never given me any issues until a couple of days ago it wouldn’t turn on for anything.

It was plugged in and with the internal battery charged but no LED light was on. The 40sec holding trick on the power button wouldn’t work as well.

Initially and after some researching I decided to take the internal battery out which immediately worked and as soon as it was plugged in on the mains it turned on.

The following day however to my surprise the laptop wouldn’t turn on again.

What ended up working up until now is removing the CMOS battery, holding the power button for 40sec so it drains the residual battery and then reconnecting (with the CMOS battery but without the main battery). Now, when the laptop is on it works great and I can even connect the main battery and it will start to use it no problems.

I thought it was all related to the CMOS battery that was drained, but I got a new one and it’s still doing the same. The only reasonable way I can use the laptop now is never putting it to sleep or shutting it down.

Any ideas?

Hi,

The function of the cmos battery is to maintain the BIOS settings when the laptop is turned off.

If the settings become corrupted for whatever reason this can prevent a normal start.

Performing a power refresh by removing the main battery and the cmos battery and pressing the Power On button for 30 seconds, drains any residual power from the motherboard which may be holding the corrupted settings and restores the BIOS back to its default factory settings.

Have you checked if the latest BIOS version is installed?

Also create a Win 10 battery report on the main battery, just to eliminate it as a possible cause of the problem.

Compare the Design Capacity value versus the Full Charge Capacity value to see the condition of the battery
