I recently bought a replacement battery for my laptop as my old battery is only able to hold my laptop on for 30 mins. When I plug the new battery in, my laptop does not turn on. However, it does turn on using the old battery.
Any suggestions ?

Well, if it works with the old battery but not the new, typically I would say you received a defective battery, but we have a few things we can check. First, if the laptop has a charging status light, what does it show when plugged in? Typically on HP’s, if it is steady white the laptop believes the battery is full, if it is steady orange the laptop is trying to charge the battery, and if it is flashing white or alternating colors it detects an issue with the battery.

The laptop charging light is orange when I plug in the new battery. It seems to charge the new battery and after sometime the status led turns white.
@agrantashe Alrighty then. If you try and charge the new battery to full, unplug the charger, wait a few minutes, then plug it in, what does it do? Does it stay on orange for a while or does it go white?
This actually sounds a lot like a problem my brother had recently with a battery for his drill. His would charge right up and report back to the charger and drill that it was full, but in reality the built in voltage regulator had failed and was holding the battery cells below operating voltage.
Based on what you have told me, I would be inclined to believe a new battery would solve the issue and you probably just got unlucky with your current replacement.
