Why does my tractor stall out when mowing when I come to a stop?

I have a 1025e john deere and in order to get mower to start, I have to start moving. It doesn't come on as soon as I move but within a minute the mower will start. When I come to a stop the whole tractor will stall out. I though maybe the mower deck was not connected correctly but I disconnected it and hooked it back up and that doesn't seem to change anything. Though this problem may be a sensor but I have no idea where to start checking the sensors.

tractors generally have 3 interlock switches. One under the seat, one detecting the brake (clutch) activation and one for the PTO if it has one. I would start with the brake switch.

Thanks! Just left the mechanic and they said the spring for the switch when you engage the reverse is getting stuck. They said they never seen this before and they work on several different tractors. So basically there is a switch that tells the tractor to shut off the PTO when you go in reverse but this isn't working right and the tractor thinks it's going in reverse all the time. They put a strap on it so now the tractor thinks it's always going forward. They said they are going to order a part and see if that fixes it. Just have to wait and see.

Thank you for commenting!!

As I know, the most popular among dacha farmers, gardeners, and gardeners tractors are equipped with two-stroke engines that run on gasoline. When operating tractors based on two-stroke engines, there are some characteristic problems associated with the peculiarities of the design of the engines. Unfortunately, I had to face the same problem. And to solve it, we turned to machinerydealer.co.uk service, which helped us once with the purchase of the tractor. Experienced and qualified mechanics took care of all repairs and maintenance of my model.

The tractor listed in the question above runs on diesel. It's bigger than your average lawn tractor. The mechanic has replace the switch that tell the PTO if the tractor is going forward or in reverse. The tractor has work great since the replaced that part.

I had a John Deere 1025e, just like yours, and faced a similar problem. At first, I thought it was a sensor issue. After some digging around, I found out it was an issue with the PTO clutch. Got it replaced, and it seemed to fix the problem for a bit. However, a few months later, the issue reappeared.

Rather than dealing with the recurring problem, I sold that tractor to my neighbor. I then treated myself to a newer, used John Deere model. It's a John Deere 2038R, it cost me a bit over 30k, but it's been running smoothly - got it from https://www.boomandbucket.com/. I saw there's a 2016 John Deere 2032R on sale for 25k, might be a good choice for you.
