Only the lock screen doesn't respond to touch

After doing a screen replacement on an Iphone XR, after the screen boots up it will let you swipe up on the lock screen, and then use the phone normally. But, if the phone goes to sleep or you lock your phone, the screen no longer responds to touch. Essentially, you have to manually reboot the phone by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery each time if you want it to respond to touch. I don’t know if it’s a case of a bad screen, logic board or what.
