person on the other end of the call can't hear me?
I have a galaxy S8 doing the exact same thing. Any suggestions?

it starting to appear that the Microphone in the phone is broken and needs replacing.

Hi there is your phone charging ok because on the Samsung S8 the flex ribbon has the type c charge port and microphone integrated into one flex ribbon which is needed to be replaced u can purchase 1 ebay under 5pound ish

Can you be heard OK when using the phone in loudspeaker (hands free) mode?
Can you be heard OK when using earphones with the microphone attachment plugged into the earphone socket?
Try starting the phone in safe mode and check if you can be heard OK on a call.
