Dashboard lights not working.

How do I get my dashboard lights to turn on? This is my first vehicle. I drove it home during the day (everything works besides the horn) and decided to take it for a ride when it got dark and the dashboard lights didn't want to work at all. I even pressed the reset button on the dashboard and that did no justice. I need help because I feel like I wasted money on my first vehicle. Money that wasn't easy to acquire in the first place… ? I don't have any more money to go get it checked or fixed. Please help.
