How can I separate the home button super glued to the digitizer?

Okay, so, unfornatelly I followed a step-by-step digitizer replacement that recommended super glue to attach the home button to the digitizer, long story short, it's now stuck, unclickable and immovable. I can't get it off anymore.

Here's where I applied super glue:

I did a little research and came up with some possible solutions, such as acetone (using a Qtip and then rubbing with my finger), making a paste with salt and warm water (then rubbing it with my finger), a damp cloth with warm water (letting it sit for a few hours) and glue remover. But since I'll be applying it to the home button, next to the flat cable and the digitizer sensor, i'm not sure what kind of result I should expect.

The alternative is to buy another one, but I have to get it from AliExpress and it takes 2 - 3 months, so it would be preferable to fix it as it is.

So first off, in my experience I use a jeweler glue like b7000 or something that’s a little more tacky that doesn’t glue hard. Why because, heat application warms the glue (with a hot gun) and makes it soft enough to remove. Alternatively, look into some 3m product doubles sided tape that is a strong bond but reacts to high heat.

Acetone won’t damage the cable and I recommend using some on a tissue paper and keep it on the spots where the glue is for an extended period of time (like 5-10 minutes) to give it time to work. Then a very sharp box cutter/blade running parallel to the screen to “pry” the metal away from the screen. This has to be done patiently as if you move too fast, you end up cutting the cabling.

If you are like me, I start from the inside outwards that way I don’t “slip” and cut the cabling. I also start on the right side. Lots of patience and slow methodical prying, acetone, prying, acetone methodology worked for me. Go too fast and you may crack the glass (this happened to me last time when I was over confident).

Lastly, if you are in Canada, esource parts is a local north american distributor. Even if you are in the US, they are a good enough local provider (I’ve used) that have decent part. https://www.esourceparts.ca/ Remember, YMMV with their services so take this advice with a grain of salt.
