I am wanting to install the ipod classic OS to a usb drive.
I would put the drive in my truck for music. I am not sure this is even possible to do. Any help is appreciated. My truck is a Chevy Silverado.
basically use a usb drive as an ipod and have steering wheel and dash controls
I don’t want to leave my ipod in the truck all the time due to temperatures in Winter, freezing F and Summer, 100F

No. Forget about doing that. It’ll never work. Just use an iPod on your truck. The iPod operating system is only designed to run on iPods.

What about with no battery?
Will it run without a battery installed?
You need a good battery in the iPod for it to work. If the battery is junk, or there is no battery, it won't start.
