I need to know if this model can power up without a battery. I know the computer may run slower but I can’t replace the battery right now

Yes, you can power it up with the battery disconnected.

The retina models its possible not the Unibody systems.

A MacBook Pro 13 mid-2012 unibody can be powered on by the power supply while the internal battery is disconnected.
