Monitor shows picture then turns off when using HDMI

My Asus vk248h-csm monitor will display video for 1-2 seconds before going black if I'm using an HDMI cable. Audio plays the entire time. If a cable is plugged in I can not use any buttons on the monitor except the power button. Menu/brightness/input all stop working. When the HDMI is disconnected the screen goes bright blue(backlight working perfectly fine) and says HDMI input not detected.

I'm mostly trying to use it with my ps4, which I have been for 3 months without issue. When this problem first happened a few days ago I tried trouble shooting by testing my xbox on the monitor with no issues, my ps4 on my tv with no issues, and switched HDMI cables between tv/monitor/ps4/xbox and the only combination that didn't work was the ps4 to the monitor with either of my hdmi cables.

Weird side note, once during my testing the xbox had the same problem, but I was able to get video to show on the monitor by plugging the xbox into the tv, starting netflix so a show was playing (sitting on a static menu didn't work) and then moving the HDMI from the TV to the monitor and video showed up. That trick has not worked with the ps4.

I have tried switching the ps4 resolution manually to each possible setting, all of which worked on the TV but none worked on the monitor.

I tried messing with HDCP settings and one Time I was able to get the ps4 to display on the monitor by having HDCP turned off, but I wasn't able to use any apps they require HDCP (all apps….). Now changing HDCP has no effect on the monitor either way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start with everything turned off.

Does it make any difference if the monitor is turned on first and then turn on the PS4 and then vice versa?

Hello, I think your problem is a bad grounding, you live probably in a dry area where electrostatic charges can occur easily and they mess with your electronic devices. If my theory is correct then I believe that your PS4 and your monitor power plugs don’t have a ground connector unlike your Xbox and TV.

So, according to Asus your monitor is equipped with a HDMI, D-Sub and DVI-D ports, if there were two HDMI ports then it will be easy to confirm my theory, do you have a computer with a DVI-D port or does your TV support that connector?
