I was wondering whether anyone had any idea as to whether the iPhone 4S camera would work if transplanted into an iPhone 4?
I had. Look at the teardowns and physically they look the same in size and connection, however do we have any info whether the newer camera module would be even recognised by the former model iPhone?
Anyone have any ideas?

the camera won't fit
count the pins and you will see that it won't fit

You're right! One has 28 pins, the other has 32. Should have counted them before asking, lol

I'm not sure how it's possible for your 4s camera module to work in your 4 when there are a difference in conn pin count.

I am not 100% sure, however if it is like the 3G and 3GS models it will not fit. For the 3G/S models there are two different camera housing holes (3G - Circle / 3GS - Square)
I haven't done any research regarding this and others are more than welcome to correct me, however knowing apple, they will have put in some counter measures in place to stop 4S camera's going into a 4 model.
