Trackpad not clicking properly?

The trackpad itself physically clicks, but it doesn’t actually register the click unless I press further/harder. Left side requires more pressure than the right. There’s also quite an unusual amount of travel on the left side after the physical “click”.

The battery has never been swollen and I’ve already tried adjusting that single screw. Nothing. I even tried the old trick of smashing the trackpad quite hard (which actually worked on my old machine, but I’m begging you to please NEVER do that).

Is there any further way I can adjust the trackpad other than that single screw? Maybe adjust something with the actual switches themselves? Or do I just need to replace it as a whole?

NEVER hit your trackpad like you did as you only make things worse!

@danj Banging on the trackpad was truly a horrible idea. Thankfully I didn't damage the case.

Given your actions I think its safe to say the trackpad is now damaged. Here’s the needed part MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2009-Mid 2012) Trackpad and the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Late 2011 Trackpad Replacement

Make sure you wipe down the edge of the case where the trackpad sits as grit and dirt can interfere with the trackpads action.

As you banged on the trackpad you could also have distorted the case. Make sure the triangle tab which holds the click adjuster is not bent

The click switch is a small blister switch within the trackpad

Guess that parts laptop will have another use...

Actually wonder how the left side has worse clicking issues when the switch is in the center.
