Samsung TV not starting EU55F6500

My Samsung smart tv EU55F6500 will not start.

The status led blinks twice and I hear two clicks, but no image nor sound.

I have unplugged the tv. After plugging it back in, the status led remains red. When trying to switch it on, it goes back to 2 blinks and 2 clicks.

At first sight, nothing special to see on the psu board.

The ~100 and ~200V outputs towards the backlight work.

The 13V output delivers 9,7V

Any ideas?

Anybody tried fixing the power board themselves?

It looks like this is a technical issue. I even don't know much about it.

It's not that I care about the TV, but throwing it away and spending about 1.000 on a new one when there are just a few components to be replaced, is not in my character.

I'm looking for help on how to find the source of the issue. I can't find a service manual for this type of tv.

First and foremost be very careful when handling the power supply as the capacitors can be holding residual charge

Hi, two blinks will usually indicate a power supply failure. A search on ebay for the model number of the power supply will bring of results for it (L55X1OV_D5M, BN44-00625C). If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

Thanks and best regards

Hi @roel1 ,

I can’t find a service manual or schematic for the power board online but it seems as though there may be some known issues with it as there is a repair kit available for the board.

If changing this many (or type) of components doesn’t appeal, search online for a replacement power board. Just search for BN44-00625C L55X1QV_DSM to get results for suppliers that suit you.

Given the number of components in the repair kit it looks like a section of the board has been redesigned (components may have different specifications, I don’t know), unless they are just replacing all the components that may lead to the failure of QP801C or QP802CS, as all the components have board designations in the same range which usually indicates the same general area on a board

That's the repair kit I've ordered. It comes without any information whatsoever (buyer beware!)

All components in the kit are replaced with the result that 13V now gives 9.7V

@roel1

That's very poor by the seller.

How did you work out what components went where, especially in the case of the replacement resistors?

Was it that you were supposed to replace like with like by working out what the component value was in the case of the resistors and then finding which one of the nominated ones in the list of components as shown in the link was it?

If you haven't already done so I'd contact them and ask if there was supposed to be a reference sheet with it.

Also were you getting 13V before replacement or not as I'm not sure reading your post?

The kit includes the list of included components. The board has those references printed on it. So we could locate where the components go. However, there is no clear fault statement except for "DEAD QP801CS QP802CS FAULTY"

I suspect my board has another issue, not solved by this kit.

Before replacement, the board only delivered the 5V standby. No power on the backlight plug. Nothing on the 13V nor the stabilized 5V.

Now it has power on the backlight plug, 9.7V on the 13V and 0V on the stabilized 5V.

@roel1

Did you measure the "faulty" QP801CS and the QP802CS to see if they were short circuit or open circuit etc?

a voltage reading from a pin[test point] in a power supply board that is lower than the marked value usually indicates a bad capacitor. this capacitor is connected between the pin and common ground[-],usually electrolytic. try replacing this capacitor with the same capacitance and voltage ratings.

Those have been replaced although they weren't bad.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the cause.
