Hi,

For the USB problem, check the setting in BIOS > Security > USB Interface Security is unlocked.

What do you mean by not power off? When shutting down normally in Windows i.e. Start > Power > Shutdown it doesn’t turn off? Does it do this OK in safe mode? How do you turn it off - force turn off i.e. hold Power button for >4 seconds?

Hi,

Usb interface security is indeed on Unlock.

I've tested safe mode, but its same problem.

Yes I must force turn off by pressing 4sec the power button.

Thank you

Hi @oku ytr

OK.

Two more things to try:

1. Change the BIOS > Security > USB Interface security setting to Lock and save the changes. Then change the setting back to Unlock and save the changes, exit BIOS and restart the laptop and check if the USB now works.

2. If still no good, try a power refresh.

Turn off the laptop if on and disconnect the charger if it is connected to the laptop.

Remove the battery from the laptop.

Press and hold the laptop's Power button operated for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

Reinsert the battery into the laptop.

Reconnect the charger and switch it on.

Turn on the laptop and check if the USB works and also if it now shuts down normally.

There may be a message when you start it about the date and time being incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been reset back to default values.

Once the date and time have been corrected the message won't appear the next time that you start the laptop.

If you have altered any settings in BIOS before for any configuration reason, they will have to be changed again to what you had changed them to.

I dit it but it does not give me a message at start. So...same problem.

When I shut down the laptop i hear that it shut down (something like fans stop turning + the screen is black) but the white light on power button is still on and I have to press it to shut the computer.

Don't know.

Can you boot from a USB at all,I don't think that you mentioned if you tried?

You said that the USB doesn't work in Windows or Linux, but it should also work in BIOS because the BIOS can read the USB to boot from when installing etc as 1st boot option.

Try booting from a USB using a free standalone test program. This program tests memory, not that I think there is a problem with the memory but it doesn't need an OS to be loaded first to operate. The laptop should boot from the USB stick that the program is loaded onto. Just change the boot order to USB first boot option.

If it doesn't work either then there is a problem with the USB controller(s) on the motherboard or the BIOS and the BIOS was supposedly reset with the procedure above. Is the latest BIOS version213 installed?

Are there shutdown problems in Linux as well?

Don't know Linux but if it only occurs in Windows try removing any Sleep or Hibernation settings in Power options and check if that helps

My laptop is Asus Vivobook X510UAR. Latest Bios installed.

The problem seems to be hardware related, I hope no.
