Certain keys on the keyboard are not working.

Someone brought a Surface Book to me with a keyboard that seems to have a hardware problem with some of the keys. For example, the keys yup[asghbn do not work. I found some similar problems online and some solutions, but none of the solutions seemed to work, and there was not a whole lot of information on what usually causes this problem. To start off, I installed all Microsoft Updates. I then made sure it didn’t have the Microsoft Security update that was known to cause problems. I went into the BIOS to make sure it wasn’t an OS problem, and sure enough, the keys don’t work there either. This led me to believe it was a hardware problem. I tried cleaning off the connections between the keyboard and the tablet portion of the computer, but that didn’t work either. Finally, I took a key off to see if there were any noticeable problems. I didn’t find anything wrong. External keyboard through USB works fine. I wanted to know if anyone knows about this problem or can give me more info on what the problem actually is. Keyboard parts for the Surface book are pricey, and I wanted to make sure the keyboard will actually work if I replace the keyboard portion of the computer. I feel like the problem has to be linked to a major connection somewhere since many keys don’t work, not just a few, but I don’t have any idea what this would be.

Thank you for your help
