iMac 27" late 2009 White screen after HDD and SSD upgrade

Removed 3.5" 1TB HDD with 3.5" 2TB HDD(not formatted)

Removed SuperDrive with the 2.5" Runcore 240GB (Has fresh installed OSX Lion on it)

Rebooted iMac and white screen with no Apple Logo.

Pressed "option" on keyboard and nothing, still White Screen

Have bootable OSX Lion 2.5" HDD USB plugged in (external)(created with Disk Utility)

Have bootable OSX DVD USB plugged in (external)

Also tried without USB's plugged in.

Will try and put original 1TB back and remove 240GB SSD to isolate the problem.

I was afraid I didn't put the screen back on properly and bent the LCD data cable (possible?) I'd that was bent will you still get White screen?

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks so much

Ok fixed it! The 2TB drive was not formatted so the iMac would not read the HDD. Runcore 240GB SSD is running off the ODD port (optical drive)

Link Speed: 3 Gigabit

Negotiated Link speed: 3 Gigabit

Trim Support: No (have to enable it through Terminal)

Edit big time: The Runcore SSD was running by itself via the ODD port and the 2TB WD2002FAEX was not plugged in.

After running a few scenarios, it came down that installing the WD2002FAEX 2TB Black drive did not work. Everything else works except when you plug in the 2TB into the internal SATA port, the White screen comes up and nothing happens after that.

I believe that the iMac 27" late 2009 model does not support the 6gabit SATA3. Read at Whirlpool that I am required to put a jumper on pin 5 and 6 to make it back to 3gigabit in order for the iMac to read it. - will try that later on.

So far the Runcore SSD works by itself via the ODD port, haven't done any benchmark testing at I guess I don't really plan to (unless someone teaches me how and what app)

So basically the iMac 27" late model 2009, 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo would not read the Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB WD2002FAEX 3.5" SATA3 6Gbit Drive

The stock one (Australia) is HITACHI 1TB with the temp sensor pin built in for Apple.

After swapping the 1TB Hitachi out for the 2TB WD, a White Screen would appear during reboot and nothing else is functional.

First I tried swapping the SATA cable for a 6Gbit SATA Cable as I thought the stock Apple cable is a 3Gbit cable. Result was the same (White Screen)

Second and Final attempt was to attempt to pin 5 and 6 (displayed on the Hard drive itself indicating pin 5 and 6 reverts it down from 6Gbit to 3Gbit.

Voila! the iMac recognises 3Gbit Drive instead and now boots from the ODD's Runcore 240GB SSD and the 3.5" 2TB readable.
