I have a 1gen Ipod, the original. It doesnt power on so I have purchased a battery and will install it asap. The headphone jack was damaged and I have already replaced that aswell. My new problem is the scroll wheel and it will not work. Im a little scared to remove it and check it but it seems to have dust. Can it be replaced and where can I find one. It seem like it has been discontinued. Please help.

This is very difficult to find, trust me. I needed one for repair a few month back and was searching hi-and-lo. The only two that I found online are http://www.computeroverhauls.com/1st-gen... and http://www.upicom.com/mp3_ipod-1g.html and as you can tell, not cheap at all. I ended up getting an old ipod of eBay and cleaned the click wheel and cables and got it working. dust really should not interfere to much with it (depending on the amount of dust) So, I'd suggest try eBay, Craigslist and the local pawn shops. Oldturkey0, thanks a million for the info, I purchased a second 1st gen ipod in much better shape then the first. I'm trying to restore both mostly because of sentimental value, one for my wife and one for me. I have checked computeroverhauls.com/1st-gen-repair-nyc.html and the website does anounce click wheel repair for 59 bucks. Its not cheap but I'm happy that someone does work on my particular problem. upicom.com also works my 1st gen Ipod, thanks a million times. I have spent this past week trying to find someone that could at least work on this because I didnt think I would find the wheel. I will call both companies tomorrow. I will update when i get my ipod repaired.
